Getting going
Make an account
Your email and a password. You will get an email with a link to click, which proves the address is yours so you can always get back in.
Set up your household
Give it a name, then add everyone in your house. Kids do not need accounts, they are just a name and a picture you choose.
Put it on your home screen
On iPhone: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android: tap the three dots, then Install app. It then opens like any other app.
The questions people ask
Can other families see my calendar?
No. Every household is separate, and that separation is enforced by the database itself rather than only by the app, so it holds even if something in the app goes wrong.
If I connect my Google Calendar, what can this app do to it?
Read it, and nothing else. It asks only for permission to see your calendar, so it cannot add, change or delete anything. You can disconnect any time from inside the app, or withdraw it from your Google account settings.
Google says the app is not verified. Is something wrong?
No. That warning appears for any app that has not been through Google's formal review, which is a paid process aimed at commercial software. Tap Advanced, then continue. It only appears once.
How safe is my information?
Everything travels encrypted, passwords are hashed and never visible to anyone, and a signed-out visitor is granted nothing at all. It is not encrypted end to end though, so the hosting companies technically could access the database, as with any normal app. Treat it as fine for netball training and bin night, and not the place for anything you would be upset about a hosting company being able to see.
Can I get my information deleted?
Yes. Ask, and your account and household are deleted in full, including every event, job and list.
Being straight with you
This is a small app run privately by one person for a handful of households, not a business. It is free, there is no support desk, and it runs on free hosting so it may occasionally be slow.
Keep anything that genuinely matters, like medication times or medical appointments, somewhere you trust as well.
